DEVELOPED FROM REAL ENGINEERING EXECUTION
The Advanced Design Definition Masterclass was developed by the founder of CIMPLIS, a Systems Engineer with more than 17 years of experience across multiple engineering disciplines and technical domains. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering, is a licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado, and is an INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional.
The methodology reflects practical engineering work where design intent, interfaces, assumptions, technical decisions, drawings, and configuration-controlled documentation must remain aligned as designs evolve. It was developed to address recurring execution problems such as fragmented engineering information, inconsistent drawing practices, repetitive manual updates, weak change propagation, and unclear technical baselines.
This is not general Visio training. Visio is the platform; the focus is disciplined engineering execution—structuring design information, consolidating related drawings, standardizing development practices, controlling change, and maintaining consistent technical documentation throughout the design lifecycle. FAQ
-
No. The Advanced Design Definition Masterclass focuses on the design definition phase of engineering projects and the methods used to structure, standardize, consolidate, and control engineering documentation.
Microsoft Visio is the primary implementation platform used throughout the training because it can support sophisticated engineering documentation and automation workflows while remaining accessible and cost-effective. The course is not designed as general-purpose Visio training.
-
The Masterclass is not an introductory Visio course, and many of the methods covered are intermediate or advanced in nature. However, extensive prior Visio experience is not required.
The training provides step-by-step guidance for the techniques and workflows presented. Participants should be comfortable working with engineering drawings and technical documentation, but they do not need to be Visio power users before starting the program.

Volume pricing is available for qualifying multi-seat purchases, and larger organizations can discuss self-paced team licensing, private cohort delivery, or enterprise licensing options with CIMPLIS.
-
Before the access period ends, you will receive a renewal reminder. You may renew for an additional 12 months to continue accessing the course platform, videos, downloadable files, updates, and new training materials released during the renewed term.
The current 12-month renewal price is $995. Renewal pricing is based on the applicable CIMPLIS renewal rate at the time of renewal unless a written offer or agreement states otherwise.
Implementation sessions, Validation reviews, email support, action plans, and other professional services are one-time scoped services and do not automatically renew.
-
The working sessions are used to understand your current engineering documentation environment, priorities, constraints, and intended implementation goals.
During the sessions, CIMPLIS can help clarify how the Masterclass methodology applies to your situation, answer implementation-related questions, identify priorities, discuss practical next steps, and provide guidance on what to address first, what to standardize, what to improve next, and what may reasonably be deferred.
The sessions are intended to support implementation of the Masterclass methodology. They are not a substitute for open-ended engineering consulting or execution of project work on the customer's behalf.
-
The 14-day email-support period begins immediately after the first Implementation working session and continues for 14 consecutive calendar days.
The support period is intended for limited follow-up questions related to the Masterclass methodology, the working session discussions, and the customer's implementation priorities.
-
The Validation option includes one structured review of one real engineering drawing package or workflow within the agreed review scope.
CIMPLIS reviews the submitted material from the perspective of the Masterclass methodology and provides a written review summary documenting observations, potential improvement areas, and recommended next steps.
The review may address topics such as drawing structure, standardization, information duplication, change propagation, revision practices, traceability, configuration discipline, and documentation-control practices, as applicable to the submitted package or workflow.
The Validation review is not a design certification, regulatory approval, code-compliance review, independent verification and validation activity, or acceptance of responsibility for the customer's engineering design.
-
Submitted material must be relevant to the Advanced Design Definition Masterclass and within the agreed review scope. Appropriate material may include engineering drawing structures, documentation workflows, drawing-development practices, revision processes, change-control practices, standardization approaches, and related design-definition processes.
Do not submit classified information or any information that you are not authorized to disclose.
Proprietary, confidential, export-controlled, controlled unclassified, or otherwise restricted information should not be submitted through standard communication or file-transfer methods unless CIMPLIS has reviewed the applicable requirements in advance and both parties have agreed in writing to an appropriate handling process.
CIMPLIS may decline materials that are outside the scope of the Masterclass, exceed the defined Validation review scope, or require security, regulatory, contractual, or technical handling capabilities that have not been agreed in advance.
